MIAMI – July 19, 2012 – Vacationers who love the personalized services of a professional concierge are likely to relish the new, modern luxury amenities Celebrity Cruises has added to its plush “ConciergeClass” accommodations.

Guests booked in Celebrity’s ConciergeClass staterooms still will be treated to the full slate of services and amenities associated with the category since it was introduced, including a bottle of chilled Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine with a commemorative label featuring exclusive artwork from the ArtCenter/South Florida artists upon arrival; fresh fruits and flowers; daily delivery of afternoon savories; pillow menu and the Celebrity eXhaleTM bedding program, with premium mattresses, 100% Egyptian cotton linens, and plush duvets and pillows; personalized stationery; oversized tote bag; special room service breakfast menu; Frette bathrobes; plush bath rugs; two hair dryers; Hansgrohe massaging showerhead; use of in-stateroom golf umbrellas and binoculars; custom-blended bath amenities including fine shampoos, body lotions and soaps; a veranda table large enough for dining al fresco, with cushioned chairs; and special services including priority luggage delivery, dining time, shoe shine service, and priority embarkation and debarkation privileges.
Now, the list of services and amenities has been expanded to also include even more personalized service with hand-delivered, customized courtesy cards to ensure that guests can directly contact the Concierge at any time during the cruise for assistance with special occasions or any requests they may have. Additionally, priority debarkation services have been enhanced to include an exclusive ConciergeClass pre-departure lounge with complimentary coffee and juices.

“Expanding our already broad array of ConciergeClass amenities is yet another illustration of our recognition of how rare and important vacation time is for our guests, and our continuous focus on finding the best ways for them to maximize that time,” said Celebrity’s Senior VP of Hotel Operations Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. “Just as a professional, personal concierge is devoted to ensuring his or her clients’ specific, individual preferences are met, so is our ConciergeClass category of accommodations.”
ConciergeClass staterooms are offered on every ship in the Celebrity fleet, with the exception of Celebrity Xpedition, the line’s luxurious megayacht sailing year-round in the Galapagos Islands.

New Mexico's Centennial Exhibitions

Telling New Mexico opens with an overview of what this area was like just prior to the Spanish entrada. An exhibit wall mimics that of a river or canyon. Cast-metal handprints of modern-day Natives (artisans who display their wares under the Palace portal) trigger oral histories when visitors place their hands over them. Artifacts from the state's archaeological history help set the scene.

Santa Fe, N.M— Did you know that New Mexico has 40 official state symbols, including a state guitar and a state cookie?

Visit the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum in Las Cruces and take a refresher course and see the display of all of New Mexico’s official state symbols as we celebrate the state Centennial this year. The exhibit of official state symbols is one of over 20 exhibits at museums across New Mexico designed to highlight our state’s 100th birthday and rich culture and history. The participating museums include all of the Department of Cultural Affairs state-run museums, as well private and community museums.

“This summer is a perfect opportunity to learn about New Mexico’s past and to travel around the state to places to discover the vast number of interesting attractions and exhibits that the state has to offer,” said Governor Susana Martinez. “I encourage everyone to get out and explore New Mexico and visit our wide range of wonderful museums statewide.”
New Mexico became the 47th state on Jan. 6, 1912, and remained the newest state of the union for only a month. Arizona joined in February, and Star-Spangled Banner needed another star. A small number of unofficial 47-star flags were made before the official 48-star flag. A facsimile of the flag is on display in the History Museum’s main exhibit, Telling New Mexico: Stories from Then and Now.

Community leaders, museum directors, curators and organizers across New Mexico have worked together to create historic and thought-provoking exhibitions throughout the state. Through these exhibits residents and visitors to the state can learn about the amazing contributions New Mexicans have made to the growth and development of our state and to the nation.

“New Mexico’s Centennial presents new opportunities to learn about, honor and celebrate our state’s rich heritage,” said Department of Cultural Affairs Secretary Veronica Gonzales.  “While the arrival of summer is a perfect backdrop for the state’s Centennial festivities, it is important to remember that our 100th anniversary is a unique opportunity to re-examine our cultural legacy.”

DISCOVER WHAT’S NEW IN DUBAI

Tourism Trends, New Developments and Ramadan Experiences

July 11, 2011 (Dubai, UAE) — Dubai’s ideal positioning, luxurious hotels, prestigious business locales and pristine shopping centers have allowed it to establish itself as one of the world’s most elite travel destinations. Today, Dubai is steadily growing as an oasis for vacationers seeking a unique cultural experience.

“With all of the luxury amenities and family packages in an ideal location, Dubai is a culturally-rich hub for both business travelers and families seeking comfort and a unique experience” said Alba Hotchkiss, U.S. Director of the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

“Dubai has already positioned itself as a luxury vacation spot for business travelers and culturally-curious travelers, but with new developments aimed towards family entertainment, Dubai is becoming more and more a unique getaway for people of all ages and backgrounds,” Hotchkiss added.

Dubai’s Upward Tourism Trend and Increased Air Access
2011 Saw a Promising Increase in Travel to Dubai

Dubai is the trade and tourism gateway of the Arabian Sea. In 2011 global traffic to Dubai grew 9.6% to just over 9 million visitors (9,095,570), with 5.6% and over 462,653 travelers hailing from the United States. The steady 5%-10% growth in USA visitors is establishing Dubai as more than just a stopover destination for travelers cruising through the Middle East, but a popular hub that attracts visitors for longer stays as well. After the first quarter of 2012, the United States stands in fourth place as a source market for travel to Dubai -- a 7.5% increase from last year’s first quarter.

Emirates Expands Services Stretching Dubai Market across the US

Emirates will expand its number of non-stop flights in the United States in September 2012 when it begins service to Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. In January 2013, an already successful daily service from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport will be expanded by changing aircraft to the larger A-380, to service the growing and diverse market of business and consumer travel to Dubai in this area. The expansion of service follows the start of two new flight routes with direct service out of Dallas/Fort Worth and Seattle/Tacoma international airports in Q1 of 2012. www.emirates.com

What’s New
Cooking Class Celebrates Diversity of Dubai

Just a few months after its grand opening in January 2012, the five-star Radisson Royal Hotel Dubai has launched a new cooking class at Icho, the hotel’s upscale Japanese restaurant. Lead by classically trained Japanese teppan chefs, the three-hour class will teach guests how to cook the traditional Japanese teppan art of cuisine using local seafood from the Arabian Gulf. The class starts at approximately US$110 (400 AED) and includes a five-course lunch with wine and saké pairings. www.radissonblu.com/royalhotel-dubai

Cruise Liner Queen Elizabeth 2 to Become Dubai Hotel

After years of being docked, the celebrated Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) will once again serve tourists and guests when it is converted to a floating hotel in downtown Port Rashid. Developers have finally settled on a use for the ship after it first arrived in Dubai in November 2008. Having shelved previous plans to gut the ship, relocate it and remodel it into a luxury hotel, developers have decided to keep the original furnishings and 300-room layout because tourists wanted to see the famed ship in its original décor. With no major renovations, the QE2 is set to open in 18 months. Developers also plan to build a maritime museum and expand the cruise ship terminal to accommodate the influx of guests. The ship was originally commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II and sailed its first voyage in 1969. Since then, it has sailed around the world 26 times.

Golf Clubs Enjoy Record Business

In March 2012, UAE’s premier golf clubs hosted a first-time record of over 50,000 rounds total at its various locations. A total of 54,365 rounds were played during the month of March, with 14% coming from overseas visitors. Driven by luxury courses and elite international tournaments, the March record is a testament to the firm presence of elite golf in the area and the mounting interest of foreign markets in visiting UAE as a top tier Golf destination for seasoned players. UAE’s premier golf clubs include Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, The Montgomerie Dubai, Arabian Ranches, the Els Club Dubai, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Al Hamra Golf Club, Saadiyat, Yas Links, Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa and Jumeirah Golf Estates. www.desertadventures.ae

JW Marriott Marquis Dubai to be World’s Tallest Hotel

At the end of 2012, JW Marriot Marquis will open in Dubai the world’s tallest hotel, serving luxury business travelers, and becoming a new superlative landmark for this thriving global business hub. Opening in Q4 of 2012, JW Marriot Marquis in Dubai will join Marriott International’s luxury portfolio, which offers distinctive properties in more than 50 gateway cities and resort locations around the world. The hotel will be a symbol of Dubai’s increasing importance as the high-performing center of business in the region and worldwide.  The 1,164-foot tall, 1,608-room world-class luxury hotel will target the profitable MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) market, with the United States being one of the key sources. For the first time in Dubai, groups of up to 1,000 people can meet, sleep and dine in one convenient and comfortable location, making this hotel the new standard for elite business travel. www.marriott.com/jw-marriott/travel.mi

Outrageous, Outdoor and Odd – Denver’s Wild and Wacky Summer Events

DENVER, CO – July 5, 2012 – Maybe it’s the altitude, but come summer, the Mile High City unleashes a series of kooky happenings ranging from the world’s largest Zombie Crawl (a horde of 7,000 blood-splattered zombies) to the world’s largest gorilla run (1,200 fully costumed gorillas…and growing). Visitors are welcome to dress appropriately and join the shenanigans. Here’s a guide to Denver’s crazy, fun-filled summer:

1)        Every Wednesday night through Sept. 26, thousands of costumed bicyclists take to the streets for a moving pub crawl known as Denver Cruisers. Bike riders dress according to themes (examples include Space Invaders, Duct Tape & Cardboard, Pirates, Punk, Goth & Glam) and travel from pub to pub through the back streets of Denver neighborhoods, finishing with a scary-looking, but generally safe “Circle of Death,” a ride in which huge circles of riders pedal into an increasingly smaller circle.

2)        Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Colorado Gay Rodeo from July 13-15 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. This year’s event includes traditional rodeo events such as team roping, bull-riding and flag racing, but also incorporate some twists - wild drag racing, steer decorating and goat dressing.

3)        Run for Your Lives in the race of a lifetime at the Thunder Valley Motorcross Park on July 14. This 5K obstacle course pits you – the living – against a horde of zombies who will chase you through a series of obstacles including pools of “blood” and undead infested forests. A dozen bands will play following the race, whether or not there are any survivors.

4)        Summon your inner sleuth for this year’s Mile High Murder Mystery, a mad dash to gather clues on whodunit throughout Downtown Denver on July 14.  Last year, there were 700 costumed characters competing, with prizes going to the top three teams.  Music, drinks and food follow the awards ceremony at Stoney’s Bar & Grill.

5)        Military training may come in handy for Denver’s Urban Assault Ride happening throughout the streets of Denver on July 22. Teammates set out on a citywide quest for “checkpoints” on their two-wheeled steeds – with tasks such as tricycle “trike” races, slip-n-slides and dance competitions throughout.

6)        Catch blue ribbon fever at this year’s Denver County Fair from August 10 – 12, where you can enter more than 30 truly crazy competitions. Find out who has the best Mile High City mustache; who the fastest texter in the west is; who does the greatest chicken impression; who rocks the best Frida Kahlo unibrow; who can build the fiercest fighting robot, and a whole lot more.

7)        As John Cougar would say, Denver’s Retro Run “Hurts So Good.” Dig out your Jane Fonda workout wear and leg warmers for this 1980s-inspired 5K around Sloan’s Lake Park on Aug. 26. Prizes will be given to best costumes – including best dressed pet – and break dancers and 80’s music will have you “Shakin” like Eddie Money.

8)        If you haven’t experienced New Belgium’s Tour de Fat, you’ve missed out on bicycling giraffes, superheroes, ballerinas and the most random costumed characters you may ever see on two wheels. Don your craziest costume and head to Denver’s City Park for the parade on Sept. 8, and enjoy live music, delicious craft beer and sunshine the rest of the day.

9)        Did we mention Denverites love zombies? In 2011, more than 7,000 of the undead lurched along 16th Street Mall, and the horde is expected to grow for another record-breaking year during the Denver Zombie Crawl on Oct. 20.

10)      It’s hard to count how many Denver residents own gorilla suits, but there are at least 1,200 who donned theirs – with modifications – for the Denver Gorilla Run, happening this year on Oct. 27. Wynkoop Brewing Co.’s event raises funds for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, and each registrant is provided with a gorilla suit to keep for next year’s race.

NEW MEXICO’S CENTENNIAL EXHIBITIONS
